About KAP-Design
Welcome to KAP-Design featuring my cake and treats website! My name is Kim. I come from a small Connecticut town and have had a love of art my whole life. I am a multidisciplinary artist/designer.
My original intent was to explore my love of art and baking by making cakes for my nieces and nephew for their birthdays (which led to many custom cupcakes shared with their school classes 😊). Little did I know my passion for these two loves would merge to become a new found love of making custom cakes and treats for other occasions.
Additionally I create custom party details and custom gifts/art. My Bachelor's degree is in Graphic Design with a minor in Illustration. I also have a background freelancing with Graphic Design and working at Architectural/Engineering firms (with experience in drafting and renderings using Photoshop and other software).
I love merging my passions for Art, Graphic Design and Baking for custom projects and special occasions. I can also coordinate party details with my custom edible items and the opportunity for a one stop shop if you wish (from your Save the Dates and Invitations, Cake/Treats to Thank You Cards & Everything in-between).

A little story & special thank you...
I love monarch butterflies 🦋and sunflowers 🌻
You will notice the butterfly in the photo of me with one of my custom made wine stoppers (above). The icon I designed for my custom cakes and treats is based on my wedding (see photos below) which featured a butterfly and sunflowers. My favorite color is now blue, but it used to be yellow which inspired my wedding theme of blue hydrangeas and sunflowers. Don't be confused by the patriotic colors for the cake. We were married on the 4th of July so that was my surprise for our guests and to pay tribute to the special day on our special day. Yes, I did make my own cake lol (among many other things for my wedding). I know some think I may have been nuts to make my own cake but made sense to me given my passion for doing so 😊
I have had the honor of creating custom cakes/treats and special occasion details for others as well.
I would like to thank my husband, Jason. You are my best friend, love of my life and biggest supporter. I thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ for joining me on this beautiful ride of life :) It was appropriate to use the inspiration from our wedding as my icon for this aspect of my hobby turned business and I thank you for your support in joining me on my business journey, I couldn't do it without you!
