Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact me using the options on the CONTACT page if you cannot find an answer to your question.

ORDERING TIMELINE

  • KAP-Design kindly requests that an order is "Booked" and paid a minimum of 1 week (2 weeks is preferred) prior to your event date.
  • At least 3 Weeks to 1 Month notice is requested for larger orders: larger cakes (ie. wedding cakes) or for a cake and treats for one occasion.

For ordering inquiries that do not fall in this time frame, please email contact@kap-design.com or call  860-573-8424. I will let you know if I am able to accommodate your request.

All orders are taken on a first come, first serve basis and availability varies.

Please note the timeframes mentioned above may be subject to change based on availability due to schedule changes or orders that become booked ahead of you.

The date for your order is considered “Booked” upon receipt of the retainer/payment

(when cleared - may take up to 2-3 business days to clear).

RUSH FEE

An additional fee may be applied to any accepted short notice orders. Short notice orders would require rearranging my schedule to fit in your order as well as my costs may be higher having to get certain supplies on short notice. If the Rush Fee applies, it will be noted in the breakdown/quote.

Estimates for your custom order are provided to you for no charge. Requesting an estimate does not obligate you to purchase.

For the quickest way to get me information for inquiries, please click GET A FREE ESTIMATE and use the appropriate inquiry form buttons on the contact page of the website.

If your inquiry is time sensitive you can call/text me at (860) 573-8424.

Upon submission of your inquiry, I will review the information submitted and will let you know of any clarifications needed. Once all the details have been clarified I will use that information to put together an estimate for your custom order. Please allow a couple of days for an estimate to be emailed back to you. During busy times it might take me a bit longer, but I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible. If there will be a delay in getting you the estimate, I will do my best to give you an update in a timely manner.

  • Each cake and treat is custom made to order and are estimated on an individual basis.
  • Pricing for custom cakes and treat work is linked to time and amount of detail.
  • The final price will depend on sizes, flavors & level of decoration required.
  • There will be an additional charge for extra details including but not limited to: cake toppers, edible images, flowers, fondant and fondant details, painted details, sculpted and 3D details, taller tiers, tiered cakes, writing.
  • If you let me know your budget upfront, I can let you know what is or isn't possible for your budget, and I can vary designs to work accordingly. Certain options can be removed or changed to bring down the cost if needed.

Please visit the CAKES MENU  and TREATS MENU for some information on starting prices.

Yes! I am happy to work off of your ideas or inspiration photos or design something custom for you. I love adding personal touches and happy to incorporate those into the design as well.

I am a certified food handler licensed as a CT Cottage Food Operator. Licensed and insured. Specializing in custom cakes and treats.

While I will take extra precautions to accommodate allergens/dietary needs, (ie. I can make a Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Egg Free, Vegan, Nut free product) (I have made products for those who have celiac and other sensitivities), I am not a dedicated allergen free facility and therefore there is a chance of cross contamination for all allergens. I can never guarantee that product is 100% free of allergens and therefore you assume all risks. You should always advise any special dietary requirements, including intolerance’s and allergies upfront when placing an inquiry.

I am not responsible for any medical issues that may arise from consuming the product. Client is to disclose any known allergen of them or their guests at the time of consultation. While I do have processes in place to minimize the risk of cross-contamination, I do not have segregated production ability, so cross-contamination of ingredients is possible. Client understands in the case of an extreme allergen or medical condition, I strongly encourage the client order through a specialized bakery.

When your custom order is "booked", there is a lot that goes into making sure your order gets completed on time; from ordering/purchasing materials, to hand-making pieces, and even turning down other orders to ensure your order is completed to the highest standard. The retainer is paid to reserve the date for your order, is applied to the order total, supplies and design work/prep and is therefore NON-REFUNDABLE in the event of a cancellation.

The date for your order is considered “Booked” upon receipt of the retainer or full payment

(when cleared - may take up to 2-3 business days to clear).
